Highland Park’s 1968 vintage is the product of 8 refill casks–7 hogsheads (250 litres) and 1 butt (500 litres) These refill casks were selected by Max McFarlane, their longest standing Whisky Maker, for their exceptional character, and are particularly appropriate for whiskies being laid down for an extended maturation period They allow the delicate fragrance of the original new make spirit to come through, without being dominated by the cask’s woody notes Imbued with Highland Park’s signature aroma of smoky peat, the combination of sandalwood and lemongrass rises to meet a tide of toasted oak shavings, crème caramel, ginger, cloves and dried orange peel
