43. Laphroaig 10-Year-Old Cask Strength Batch 16
Batch 16 is Laphroaig’s most powerful expression within the Cask Strength family, characterised by a 58.5% ABV and notes of vanilla and sea salt intermingled with hints of freshly ground black pepper and pork crackling. A dram poured neat will fill the nose with aromas of sweet apples and caramelised pastry, underpinned with a tang of cereal and tanned leather notes. The finish, a mixture of gentle spice, charred oak and smoked mackerel with an oily mouthful.

44. Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire & Cask Strength 18-Year-Old Nose: Woody cloves and warm tarmac take the lead, with earthen charred pineapple, peach, and nectarine. Apricot fromage frais follows with a touch of vanilla, and furniture polish, with ashen, meaty peat. Palate: A powerful tangle of sooty chimney smoke, herbaceous peat, and old oak. A soft smooth texture brings notes of Eat Me dates and chocolate salted almonds, cushioning savoury layers of parma ham and biltong. Finish: Coastal bonfire embers smoulder while smoked herbs grip vanilla wafers. There’s spice, but it rests way off in the depths, kept at bay by a silky soft layer of stone fruits that emerge over time.
