36. GlenAllachie Meikle Tòir The Chinquapin One

Coming in at 35 PPM, the whisky has a sweeter style of smoke character owing to the mainland peat from St. Fergus used to kiln the barley. After a lengthy 160-hour fermentation, the whisky has a complex character which stands up well to ageing in virgin oak casks. The Chinquapin cask itself has the aroma of old leather and cigar smoke, which works wonderfully well with the sweetness derived from the bourbon casks—the combination of both casks complements the beautifully sweet peat character.

$104.99 | United Kingdom | Scotland | Speyside | 238632 | 700 ml

37. GlenAllachie Meikle Tòir The Original

The Original is Meikle Tòir’s classic single malt that truly champions their peated pursuit. Made with mainland peat from St. Fergus, the flavour contribution is sweeter than that anticipated of coastal peat. The toast level of the virgin oak casks will add a lovely layer of vanilla and toffee flavours which, when intwined with the spicy contribution from the rye casks, will give the perfect balance of sweet spiciness and peat smoke.

$104.99 | United Kingdom | Scotland | Speyside | 238609 | 700 ml

38. GlenAllachie 10-Year-Old Cask Strength Batch 10 This multi-award-winning Speyside sipper is bottled at its natural cask strength for maximum flavour delivery. GlenAllachie's Master Distiller Billy Walker carefully finesses every small batch, striving to better the last. The whisky was elevated through maturation in Pedro Ximénez, oloroso, red wine and virgin oak casks. Nose: Rich mocha, heather honey and cinnamon pancakes, with caramelised brown sugar, pears and ginger snaps. Taste: Dark chocolate, toasted honeycomb and molasses, followed by ripe plums, hazelnuts, ginger and red berries.

39. Glenglassaugh Sandend

“Glenglassaugh Distillery is situated on the north coast of Scotland, perched upon high ground overlooking the North Sea. The whisky is often described as a “coastal” Highland malt, which seems a fair assessment. This non-age statement expression, named for the bay offshore, is bright and delicate, with aromas of citrus and minerality leading to a luscious palate filled with layers of flavor revealing peach, apricot, honey, pound cake, and vanilla, all accented with a touch of sea salt. Rolling spices help create an explosive, long-lasting finish. It’s gentle yet complex, but above all it’s an easy sipper you can just sit back and enjoy.”

The Glenmorangie Calvados Cask Finish is the fifth release in the Barrel Select series of small-batch single malts. Entwining scents of jasmine with baked apples and pears, this rare 12-year-old bottling offers new mellow depths to Glenmorangie’s signature fruity tones. Inspired to experiment, Glenmorangie’s acclaimed Director of Whisky Creation Dr. Bill Lumsden took a whisky which had spent more than 10 years ageing in American white oak bourbon casks, for Glenmorangie’s elegant style. He transferred that whisky into casks which, for 20 years, had held Calvados du Pays d’Auge, from Normandy, in France.

42. Gordon & MacPhail

Speymalt from Macallan Distillery 1998 Gordon & MacPhail bottles a series of single malt whiskies from one of the world’s most famous distilleries—Macallan. Established in 1824, the distillery overlooks some of the finest fishing beats on the River Spey. It is likely that whisky has been distilled on the Macallan site, a small hill overlooking the river Spey, since the late 1700’s. The first licensed distillation at Macallan took place in the earliest days of legalised production, in 1824. The distillery changed hands several times throughout the 19 th century and in 1894 was bought by Elgin merchant, Roderick Kemp (who also owned Talisker on Skye). Treacle toffee aromas with Medjool dates and orange peel. The palate has rich stewed fruit, dark chocolate and autumnal spices, leading to full and lingering roasted coffee beans.

A soft smooth texture brings notes of Eat Me dates and chocolate salted almonds, cushioning savoury layers of parma ham and biltong. Finish: Coastal bonfire embers smoulder while smoked herbs grip vanilla wafers. There’s spice, but it rests way off in the depths, kept at bay by a silky soft layer of stone fruits that emerge over time.
