H2. Highland Park 54-Year-Old The story of this exceptional single malt scotch whisky begins 54-years ago in Orkney. Although Orkney has been home to the Highland Park Distillery for 225 years, Orkney’s own story is some 400 million years older and the detailed and complex strata found in the Cliffs of Yesnaby, dating right back to the Devonian period, are the inspiration for the design of this whisky’s stunning decanter and presentation case. And it’s to the outstanding skills of Highland Park’s Master Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion, that this remarkable whisky owes its flavour and character. Highland Park’s distillery’s oldest and rarest release to date, 54-Year-Old is intensely rich, sweet and complex. Intriguing aromas of exotic lychee and aromatic camphor, vintage oak and delicate peat, herald the exquisitely balanced flavours that follow. Warm spices— crushed cumin and coriander seeds—emerge and subside to reveal fragrant notes of summer rose and jasmine, with just a hint of honeyed kiwi fruit and pistachio biscotti. Sweet and spicy at the end, woody notes give way to a lingering whisper of sweet fenugreek and heathery peat smoke. Only 225 bottles have been released—representing every year of production in Highland Park’s 225-year history—each one steeped in the magic of the Orkney Islands.

H3. Rémy Martin Louis XIII Rare Cask 42.1 For the third time in history, in an unexpected departure from the ordinary passage of time, Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau uncovers the third milestone in the Rare Cask legacy: Rare Cask 42.1. Inexplicable and unpredictable, a single tierçon has just unveiled its uniquely exceptional aromatic profile, giving a distinct expression of Louis XIII Cognac never encountered before, and with an unexpected 42.1% ABV. Rare Cask story begins in 2004, when Cellar Master Pierrette Trichet identified a centennial tierçon of eaux-de-vie with a richness and intensity never encountered before and an exceptional 43.8 degrees ABV. This became the first Rare Cask, so special that only 786 black crystal decanters were released. The second Rare Cask was launched in 2013 with a yet different ABV of 42.6. Today, Louis XIII unveils its third ever special edition with Rare Cask 42.1.

Benrinnes 10-Year-Old 2011 Artist #12 La Maison Du Whisky

Equipped with two wash stills and four spirits stills since 1966, Benrinnes practiced partial triple distillation up until 2009. Having since returned to the more classic practice of double distillation, it now produces a heavier, more ‘animal’ single malt than many of its Speyside peers. Although heavily influenced by its first-fill sherry cask maturation, this especially loquacious and extroverted version nonetheless remains deeply rooted in its region. This is reflected in the many divinely malty sequences found in its palette of flavours and aromas. A limited edition of 660 bottles.

Caperdonich 1969 50-Year-Old Rarest of the Rare Duncan Taylor

Built in 1898, Caperdonich was originally known as Glen Grant No. 2 with the spirit being used to support its more well-known namesake nearby. Whilst having the same equipment and water source, it produced a different spirit. Closed after only a few years in 1902, the distillery remained silent for the next six decades before being brought back to life. With the installation of new distilling technology and renamed Caperdonich the distillery moved forward. Sadly the site was closed for good in 2002 with the last building being removed in 2011, much of the distilling equipment is now fitted into other distilleries so the legacy of Caperdonich lives on. The nose is beautifully malty and sweet. On the palate you will find a frothy caramel latte topped with cinnamon. A long- lasting finish of soft gentle warm spices and sweet toasted oak notes round it off.

Glenallachie 9-Year-Old Cuvée Wine Cask Finish

To craft The GlenAllachie Cuvée Wine Cask Finish, Master Blender Billy Walker first expertly matured the spirit in the finest American oak ex-bourbon barrels, before transferring the whisky into Bordeaux, Amarone and Languedoc casks for secondary aging. A French term, “cuvée” is used in the wine sector to reference a blend that typically comprises more than one variety of grape. Likewise, this Cuvée is a marriage of spirit from several fine wine casks sourced from world-renowned wine regions. The resulting golden liquid offers up elegant stone fruits, hints of toasted almonds and zesty orange peel on the palate.

10. Glenfarclas 50-Year-Old “Just pause for a moment before tasting. 50 years. What has happened in the world during that time? How have you changed? What has it done to the whisky? Added a quiet elegance. It brings to mind elements of long-dried concentrated fruit and nut, damson, even smoke. The tannins are initially dusty, but a splash of water adds a fresh potpourri perfume. Is it expensive? For something that’s spent 50 years in a cask? No, it isn’t.”
