Glenfarclas The Family Casks 1963 A14 Cask No. 178

Dark, almost treacle in colour and smells like cinnamon and ginger, with the mildest hint of smoke from the peat of Ben Rinnes. A drop of water reveals something more earthy, and old warm leather. It tastes of good dark chocolate, alongside dried fruits like raisins and sultanas, and freshly roasted coffee. The finish is dry, almost evoking the coal fires used for distillation at the time, with an intensity that fades to pine resin. One of 168 bottles.
