Volume 1 tells the story of Donald Johnston, the older of two brothers who founded the Laphroaig distillery in 1815 and created the iconic Laphroaig whisky we all know today. Such a remarkable story deserves an extraordinary whisky, and the one which was chosen has been resting in Laphroaig’s warehouse for 33 years. Matured in a selection of American oak ex- bourbon casks and European oak sherry-seasoned hogsheads, the result is a complex character, bringing notes of sweet desserts, gentle sherry, and savoury peat smoke all together in perfect harmony.
